Tongue Tie & Lip Tie Specialists

Tongue-tie (or Ankyloglossia), happens when the thin membrane beneath the tongue (referred to as the frenum or frenulum) hinders the tongue’s movement. Although all infants are born with some of this tissue, about 4-11% of newborns have a tightly bound tongue that limits its mobility.

Thrive Latch is committed to delivering the finest treatment for Tongue Tie & Lip Tie

Tongue Tie & Lip Tie

Infants

If your baby is experiencing breast or bottle feeding frustration, constant hunger, gas, spitting up, or difficulty gaining weight he or she might have a tongue or lip-tie.

Older Children

Children with tongue- or lip-ties may experience speech difficulties, feeding challenges, and sleep issues.

Teens

In teens, we may see issues such as a lisp or difficulty pronouncing certain sounds, problems sleeping, challenges with activities such as licking a popsicle or playing a wind instrument.

Mothers

After releasing the tongue- and/or lip-tie, mothers often report immediate relief of pain and a deeper latch.

How Does Tongue Tie Surgery Work?

We use advanced laser technology to fully release your child’s tongue-tie in a precise, quick, and sedation-free procedure.

We use a laser for all of our frenectomies and the procedure takes less than 30 mins and no stitches are necessary. A laser works with light energy so there is very little discomfort. There is almost no bleeding and some babies and children sleep through the procedure. The laser sterilizes upon touch, therefore the risk of infection is minimal, if any. Healing occurs quicker and without complications. The result is healthy, well-healed tissue with less chance of reattachment (relapse).
